Ok, I GET it. Sustainability is expensive. Banning plastic bags costs small businesses money. But, wait, why, exactly, I’m not quite sure. Because if you’re just taking the bring-your-own-bag stance, then what exactly is costing so much?
When I went to France (I know, bourgeois AF but I promise it was a terrible trip — not because of the place but because of the company — and one of only two times I’ve left the country) NOBODY offered plastic bags. You had to either have your own bag with you or pay for a reusable bag.
My kind of place.
So I just don’t understand why businesses are so scared of a ban that could protect our children (I don’t have any, but still) and grandchildren from impending doom… for at least a little while. I mean, arguments FOR plastic bags in articles like this completely confound me. Really? A ban on plastic bags is bad for business? How about our planet exploding into fire? I think the planet exploding would probably be pretty bad for business.
I would qualify this by saying I’m being dramatic but, unfortunately, I don’t think that I am.
What would it take for you to cut plastic bags from your life? I wanna knowwwwwwww
