How to be an eco-friendly pet owner

Does your heart hurt as much as mine when you put cat littler in a plastic bag and then put it in the trash? It’s JUST poop so why does it go in plastic? My dog’s poop goes in plastic, too. What do you do? I don’t even use paper towels or plastic bags for myself and they are animals, who otherwise would be pooping and peeing in the wild. So…. whyyyyyy!?

And what can one really do!?

I’m going to tell you what I do. But then I want to hear about you. Because I do. not. have. all. the. answers.

  • I use biodegradable doggie poop bags

  • and pine kitty litter

  • and human eco soap instead of weird chemical dog shampoo…

  • and an eco-friendly DIY pet stain remover recipe

  • and I’m THINKING about investing in a kitty potty training situation to eliminate litter altogether…

  • and that’s pretty much it for the moment…

I’m STILL trying to figure out what to do with the excess pine litter. I’m inclined to throw it in the wood but I have been researching and researching and can’t find any definitive confirmation that it’s OK to do that. Know something I don’t? Help!
